Blood Pressure Drug No Good For Heart Failure Patients

Initial results of a new study of a blood pressure drug find it ineffective when given to patients with heart failure.
Avapro is the name of the blood pressure medication which is given to people with high BP levels. It is manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Researchers wanted to see if the drug could benefit women diagnosed with a type of heart failure, but it turns out that the drug does not help in this regard.
Heart failure is a very serious type of heart condition and is characterized by the inability of the heart to properly pump blood throughout the entire body.
“We were particularly disappointed because we still have large numbers of patients that still don’t have a good treatment,” said Dr. Barry Massie.
The study findings were to be presented today at the American Heart Association scientific meeting.
