HP accuses Microsoft of Deceiving Consumers
Toronto (CWN) - Court documents show that Microsoft played some nasty tricks on consumers two years ago.
They allege that chipsets that were far below Windows Vista’s requirements were given the ok to be labelled vista-capable, in order to satisfy processor-manufacturers who wanted to get rid of remaining chipsets.
Meanwhile HP complains that it was completely unacceptable for Microsoft to demand that the manufacturer work diligently to upgrade their Windows Display Driver Model, and then drop the requirements, although they returned later.
This raises the suspicion that Microsoft had reached a secret agreement to help manufacturers, while tricking the consumer into thinking that vista-ready and vista-capable were the same thing when they clearly were not.
