ford Shows Off New Hybrid At Auto Show
Los Angeles - Ford Motor is expected to unveil its new hybrid model at the Los Angeles auto Show.
Ford’s hybrid hopes to compete with Toyota’s Next Generation Prius and GM’s Plug-in Volt, which is a work in progress.
With the gas prices the way they are, auto makers feel that hybrids will gain popularity and take over more of the U.S. market than the less than 3.5 percent they hold now.
The new model is expected to get 39 miles per gallon in city driving, and on the highway, it is expected to outperform the camry by 2 miles per gallon. It can also run on its electric motor at speeds of up to 47 miles per hour.
