Mccolo, a company which was shut down last week and believed to be responsible for 75 percent of the world’s spam, briefly came to life on Saturday to transfer the load to a Russian service.

The company used a backup service provider from Sweden for about twelve hours before the provider was alerted and pulled the plug on them once again.

During that time, antivirus companies noticed infected PC’s being updated to contact new servers in Russia for instructions.

Security experts believe that the choice to transfer command on Saturday was planned, since they believed that most people are off on weekends, so they thought nothing could be done until Monday.

To make a long story short, the decline in spam is likely over.
