Water Aerobics Eases Pain Of Pregnant Women During Childbirth

Water Aerobics Eases Pain Of Pregnant Women During ChildbirthPerforming water aerobics during childbirth can help eas the pain of the mother, say researchers of a new study published in the journal Reproductive Health.

According to study researchers, who enrolled 71 mothers to be in the study, those who performed water aerobics during pregnancy, expressed less of a need for pain medications during delivery of their babies. In total, 34 of the study participants took the water exercise classes 3 times weekely.

Researchers noted that 27% of the water aerobics group reported requesting pain medication during their pregnancies, compared to 65% of mothers who did not participate in the water exercise classes. Of the total number of participants, no vast changes in the amount of delivery time were reported between the water aerobics group and the other group.

Babies that were born to each of the groups were of an average size and weight, meaning that water aerobics did not appear to benefit the actual baby in any way.
