experimental Brain cancer vaccine Prolongs Life

An experimental cancer vaccine has performed well in a small clinical study featuring brain cancer patients.
The experimental drug is called Oncophage and is manufactured by drug maker Antigenics Inc.
In total, 12 participants took part in the drug study.
Those participants vaccinated with Oncophage following brain cancer surgery lived for an average of 10.5 months, 4 months longer than people not given the drug.
One study participant even lived for more than 2 years, something unheard of in people diagnosed with the form of brain cancer.
The study findings were presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology in Las Vegas.
