A new report released in America finds that the state of California is the best when it comes to the cheapest price for a post high school education.

California has 109 community colleges, and numerous 4-year universities for perspective students to choose from.

Many students choose to attend school in the surfing state, their choice made a lot easier when they are comparing price tags that come with each school.

“Children from even the poorest family can afford to attend,” said Joni Finney, vice president of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, who conducted the nation wide study. “We found that no other state has a such a public policy in place.”

California was also noted to be the only state that was given a passing grade in the report, and also was one of the leaders when it came to the number of residents living there with bachelor’s degrees.

California’s top ranking position maybe short lived, as tuition hikes are being recommended for community colleges, and budget cuts being mulled over for the universities.

“We are doing everything we can to keep our doors open to everyone, as a way to participate in the economy,” said Martha Kanter, chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. “We take the top 100 percent of adults in California and get them into jobs — or four-year universities for even better jobs. We offer upward mobility. For every dollar put into a community college, we return three dollars to the state.”
