Obama Names New Mexico Governor As Next Commerce Secretary

Newly elected President of the US Barack Obama has anointed New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as his next Commerce Secretary.
Richardson brings a vast amount of experience to Washington, and actually favored Obama over Hillary Clinton during the Democratic convention.
Richardson is no rookie when it comes to politics having served as Governor of New Mexico for 2 terms, as well as being the energy secretary and U.N. ambassador.
“With his breadth and depth of experience in public life, Governor Richardson is uniquely suited for this role as a leading economic diplomat for America,” Obama said. “Bill brings both international stature and a deep understanding of today’s global economy.”
Obama officially takes over the reigns of the country on January 20 of 09.
“There’s a vital role for the Department of Commerce in our economy recovery,” said Richardson. He had been pegged for Secretary of State before Obama offered that position to Clinton.
