American Red Cross Needs Blood Donations

The American Red Cross is reporting that blood donations are down this winter.

A significant reason why blood donations are down is due to terrible weather, making it hard for people to get out to donate.

Due to the holiday season, people are very busy visiting family and friends, thus taking time to donate blood is not really on their minds.

The ARC have been forced to cancil numerous blood drives across the country due to bad weather and the lack of volunteers.

The hope is that now that Christmas is passed, people will get back into their routines, thus blood donations will increase.

If you can, take the time to donate blood, as it maybe your blood that saves a life some day.

The American Red Cross really does do a great service to the world-they help on an international level, which is one of the reasons I really like supporting them. I think that one of the reasons it’s hard to go out and give blood also is because sometimes the experience of giving blood isn’t so great. They’re usually rushed to fit everyone in, so sometimes the volunteers are not as gentle so it becomes an experience that’s not fun to repeat (I think repeat donors is their biggest market). I didn’t have too great an experience, so instead I help the American Red Cross through the toolbar I downloaded from http://www.give2network.com. I registered it to the American Red Cross so that all of my searching and shopping will give them donations. It’s not blood, but it’s at least a step forward.
