Mens Fittness Releases Top 50 Fittest City Survey

January 14 - Mens Fitness magazine have released a list of the fittest cities in America with Salt Lake City leading the way.
For the survey, in its 11th year, the mag worked with a research company, analyzing 50 of the country’s largest cities by population, and grading them on as many as 12 different categories.
Miami, which one would generally think to be a relatively fit city due to it being on the water, was actually found to be the fattest out of all the cities surveyed.
Some categories taken into consideration to grade the cities included: number of fittness centers, number of sporting outlets, etc.
Salt Lake City was named the fittest state due to a low rate of obesity, a low rate of television watching, many fitness centers and overall, athletically motivated inhabitants.
“These residents are motivated to keep themselves fit,” stated Mens Fittness editor-in-chief Roy Johnson. “They are four times more likely to swim for fitness than people in Miami, and Salt Lake City has 11 times more public park acreage per capita than Miami does. They talk the talk and walk the walk — and sweat.”
