Worm Virus Infecting Millions Of Computers

January 23 (Ottawa) A worm is using the internet to infect millions of home and business computers from all parts of the world.
Downadup is the name given to the darn worm, that despite best efforts by computer experts, continues to spread globally, infecting computers on a daily basis.
It is estimated that more than 1.2 million networks are now infected with the worm, with this number continuing to grow each day.
The worm gains access to computers running Windows operating systems, and can even be spread through infected junk drives, otherwise known as USB sticks.
“A few minutes after the virus has intruded a company network, all laptops, desktops and servers have become infected,” said the chief research officer at Helsinki-based Internet security software makerF-Secure Oyj, “We have had cases where hospital networks with computers in operating rooms have become contaminated. You can’t just unplug them, making the cleanup more difficult.”
