Apple tops in App Store competition

Ottawa - The Global Intelligence Alliance Group has issued a report that Apple’s iTunes-based App Store for the iPhone and iPods is at the forefront in the marketplace of application store rivals like Ovi by Nokia and the Android market from Google Android and the Open Handset Alliance.
Apple’s App Store was rated tops in several categories from the GIA’s analysis, which included number of App Stores, timeliness, and the variety of the applications that are available for users to download to their smart phones and mobile devices.
Apple’s App Store was the first application store. Blackberry is opening a store later in March, while Microsoft has announced its entrance into the application store competition.
Apple has 15,000 applications in its App Store since its first launch back in July of 2008.
The GIA had Android and Nokia tied for second place. A lack of devices is what is holding Android back while Nokia’s Ovi has yet to line up any applications and developers. Microsoft ranked third due to user experience and time- to-market.
There is tremendous competition in the hand held market while different companies are all adding the latest and greatest 3G connectivity. Among the most popular features are multimedia tools and GPS location based services.
Is that a 3D?
